UPDATE!!!! Over a year since I bought and installed my Kensun HID Conversion Kit and it’s still GOING! Still bright clear light so much so that it feels sooooooooo wrong driving cars that don’t have HID lights at night now. HID kits contribute to driver confidence, making for a more relaxed and safe drive. Good Job Kensun!!!!
Very easy to install, excelent visibility and outstanding Kensun Support ! After installation HID Conversion Kit the bulbs fired up as expected and their warm up time was minimal. I’d say about 5 – 10 seconds for full warm up but you really don’t notice that much. They warm up pretty quickly and the warm up itself does look kind of cool if you’re outside looking at it. First thing I noticed was the light on the road was vastly increased and improved. Not only was there more light on the road but it was also brighter whiter and crisper.
HID lights have a glass chamber of gas that replaces the filament of traditional halogen light bulbs. The gas is ignited with an approximately 23,000 volt charge and stays illuminated by a constant 12v source that is provided by a ballast which is connected directly to your battery. Remarkably, HID Conversion Kit lights are able to provide greater light output with much less power consumption.
Studies show that a 35 watt HID lamp produces 3 times as much light compared to a 55 watt halogen bulb. Moreover, the 55 watt halogen bulb uses a continuous power draw of 10-15 amps, while the HID system uses 20 amps for starting up, but then drops down to a mere 3 amps during operation (that is up to 80% less power during use!). In addition to high output and low power usage, the HID headlight provides longer service life. With no filament to vibrate and fatigue, under normal driving conditions, HID Conversion Kit bulbs last roughly 10 times longer than halogen bulbs.
As per the glare issue. I noticed that the Bi-Xenon bulbs came with glare shields around the bulb itself and these are said to help though some say they really don’t. In my car however they appeared to help a great deal as I can stand back and look at the lights when they are on and not get blinded and I’ve had a friend driving in front me tell me he barely noticed them in his mirrors etc. I’ve had a friend drive oncoming to them and they weren’t bothered either, neither have I been flashed or shouted at by other oncoming drivers (as yet) and I am really happy about that.
I think I just need to adjust the headlamp housings a bit more to get mine to point just a bit further forward and everything should be great. The high beam also works pretty nicely too; though it does not actually increase the light output by much, the way the bulb is positioned when it’s moved allows a bit more light to escape through an opening in the shield and also allows the housing to project the light a bit further down the road. You’ll get a view of the majority of the light actually moving from in front of you to further forward lighting up areas much further in the distance and there WILL be a BIT more light being given off too, but you can see the difference between high and low beam as the driver and from being outside looking at the lamps.
All in all, great product and can’t fault Kensun HID Conversion Kit H4. Just to see how well it stands up to time and usage. Will only report back if there’s a problem, as this is just my first weekend with them. But if not… Five stars!
